HMMM… WHAT EXACTLY DO I USE THESE ACTIVITIES FOR?

If you’re new to the world of teaching ESL, then you may not be familiar with how important a warm-up activity is in the classroom. ESL lessons aren’t like every other lesson your students have during the course of a school or workday. You’re essentially forcing their brains to operate in a completely different way! While a math teacher might be able to get students in the right frame of mind by just having them open their textbooks, trying to get ESL students to think and speak in another language requires something different. While some teachers might just use “ice-breaker” style activities on the first day of class, an ESL teacher would find them to be useful anytime language learners get overwhelmed or start becoming more silent.
